This course is for anyone interested in learning more about testing copper and fiber optic cabling installations. The installations include local area networks, copper twisted pair cabling and internal and external fiber links. The course looks at the most common field testers available for both copper and fiber media and discusses how to test successfully, what to test and the best methods of testing and troubleshooting.
This course is an ideal follow up for students who have completed the ACT I Installing Premises Cabling course [SP3801], but this is not mandatory.
You will study this course online in a self-paced format. The course is made up of a number of webcast lessons and online multiple choice assessments giving immediate feedback. It is highly recommended that the student augment their learning with real world design and installation experience, preferably with the help experienced colleagues or mentors.

If you are going to be involved in commissioning installation projects, and also ongoing maintenance then you will need to understand test procedures and be able to competently analyze the results that are produced. This course assumes that you have an interest in fiber optic or copper cabling and the testing, specification, termination of cabling in or between buildings, then this course is for you.
